tomato, fruit or vegetable?
14 vote that tomato is a fruit
and 2 that it is a vegetable.
plus many insightful comments from various pple abt how tomato is a fruit, but was misclassified by america in the past so as to evade taxes while trading that were for some reason imposed on fruits and not vegetables.
still the funniest comment i got about it was..(identity protected to spare the person from embarrassment ahaha)
X: tomato!
me: yes so your vote is for..?
X: tomato lah!
it took me abt 30 seconds to figure that he thought tomato; fruit or vegetable was a 3-choose-1 question.
following which X attempted to redeem his lack of knowledge that a ';' separates a related sentence while a ',' separates a separate subject matter.
X: cherry tomato is a fruit! big tomatoes are vegetables!
me: so small humans and big humans are classified differently..? hahaha
on a separate note, tomatoes are a good source of vitamin C, which functions as an antioxidant and cofactor of enzymes for hydroxylation cross linking to form procollagen..good for your skin and bones..bchem brainwashing.
and yj actually did the quiz! hahaha im very amused. thanks for the entertainment twit.

chinese food
SHIOK!!
there's this restaurant in Central, next to billy bombers on the second floor, called Grains, which has teh awesome salted prawns! and brown rice fried rice, seaweed tofu, kiji baby spinach soup....yummm.
but recently it has dawned on me that the best way to enjoy food, is to not over eat. i.e no buffets, no stuffing, no limitless ordering...
a lesson learnt from the crabby party with xt wei and kw on friday, whereby it was nonetheless awesome, but left me so full and round that even fbts became tight and i couldnt sleep until 12+ when some food finally went down the duodenum.
verses for the year
Luke 10: 27 -28
27 He answered: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and love your neighbour as yourself". 28 "You have answered correctly," Jesus replied, "Do this and you will live".
James 1: 2- 8
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in everything he does.
these few days many people have been asking me if i have made any new year resolutions, a tradition that im not exactly accustomed to; not to recording them down somewhere at least. but yes this year shall be different, for after all recording does give some form of accountability, to God, to others, to self..hmm.
so for 2009 i intend to:
1) Be more patient with people especially those who get on my nerves all the time
2) Love others as God has loved me (this is where strength to love the seeming unlovable arises from) and try my best to meet their needs when it is in my court to do so
3) Read the bible every day and try not fall asleep while reading it
4) Be joyful always, pray continually and give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thes 5: 16-18)
5) Make consistent efforts to maintain relationships regardless of being busy or free
6) Do my best in dental school to honour God and not grumble even when situations are unfair or unnecessary
7) Exercise more regularly, eat more healthily and lose some weight so i'll stop feeling like a rolly polly
8) Sleep earlier and waste less time on facebook
9) Read more books
10) Keep my stuff organised and neat
and in a year's time, come back to review what has been attained..and what needs further progress on :)
goodbye 2008
whew i cant believe im going to be 20 soon.
or that there's only 11 days of holidays left, this being the longest break i'm going to get in the next 4 years to come..and there still is a HUGE file of biochem stuff to mug that i havent touched it at all. bleh. and cario..a separate matter of angst ahahah.
still thank God for the hols, for all the meetups - penang trip, overnight cycling, rock climbing, sleepover, touch rug on NYE, shopping, campus camp etc..
im glad for all the people He has placed in my life :)
when less is more
the opening of the jar was barely big enough for his fist to pass through, sliding by the smooth cold glass occasionally.
in his greed he grabbed a fistful of jellybeans, thinking of how they would last him through the movie on television.
his fist jammed at the opening; the jellybeans in his hand had enlarged the circumference of his fist such that it could no longer pass through the jar's opening.
but he could not.
he never knew each jelly bean so well previously when they were just shoved into his mouth, giving that sugar rush each time he chewed on them.
try
everything's like a whirlwind
swirled, twisted, multi-coloured
till you see nothing but perhaps, white,
coated with random odd stripes
clear the view they say;
easy for them,
hard for you
but nonetheless worth the try
coz you never know until you try
in a nutshell
this week has been incredibly packed with church camp and comms ball and meeting up with wei yj timo and excell gathering!
church camp was alright, it was good to be refreshed by God's presence and heard quite some revelation from Him about the things to come and promises He has for me, especially with regards to my family. of course, i would have liked to be a little more friendly, gotten to know more people, but for about the whole week ive been in the perpetual dontreallywanttotalkmuch mood..well its over ahaha
comms ball was like a mini prom, except there were many many more unfamiliar faces. it was good to catch up with vd, i think we hadnt seen each other since uh..i cant even rmbr when! hahah. saw rachel cheong too :) havent seen her in even longer. and not to mention all the rj girls.
i was hoping the officers would have to be called on stage to dance blindfolded or something, like daniel denzil and matt were discussing that they had to during their comms ball..but to no avail.
nonetheless vd being his usual self just had to make a splash that night. it's some tradition that when your superiors walk over you have to rise and introduce your date to them, and when his superior did, he got very excited, rose quickly his chair and the CHAIR FELL DOWN BACKWARDS. THUMPPP. naturally the whole table was laughing away and all the surrounding tables turned to look and vd just happily went "eh relax relax its just the chair" ahahaha
lunch with wei yj and timo was good, chicken rice at maxwell food centre. that was my 2nd plate of chicken rice and 3rd time eating chicken in 2 days..but nevermind. pple like wei havent eaten chicken rice in months hehe. yj was being his usual twittish self and saying things which made all of us laugh unwittingly, like how we were discussing abt inter racial couples and then someone called him.
"i think it's karma, some indian just called"
timo TSKKK we shall not disclose here but seriously hahaha.
and wei!!! im so glad youre backk ((: and youre new hairstyle is very nice.
after lunch the boys went off and we went to far east which is cut hair and shopping paradise. okay i finally had my hair cut...and this is wei sleeping in the shop while waiting. very glam dear :) thanks for waiting hahah.
we managed to buy quite a lot too..stocked up for the next sem to come, with CAs and final in view i foresee there'll be no time to shop..so must shop more NOW!
excell gathering was good too, despite the very long journey to sengkang (hahah yihong if you read this i know youre gg to tell me sk is not that ulu), seeing everyone was nice! even though it had been like probably a year or so since i've seen most of the pple there, there were no awkward silences or whatsoever..meeting up with old friends just brings such a warm feeling to your heart :)
3 weeks more of hols
10 clinics to canvass
1 cario project to do
endless things to draw and study
lots more pple to meet up with
many miracles im trusting in God to fulfill
to make everyday count, in You.
we survived the night!
after uploading all the photos from the trip by about 3pm yesterday i had comatosed on the couch and slept practically the whole day away, with the exceptions of waking up to eat dinner, brush teeth, qt and then sleeping until 8am this morning. so it beats me how my energetic classmates managed tag all the photos and comment on them in the 2 albums..
thank God for the lovely weather (no rain!) and for keeping us safe throughout the journey, especially on the roads and narrow pavements where many hazards stood in way.
our first stop by the expressway, with the singapore flyer in the background :)
and a second stop outside marina square, with this huge snowflake globe thing..
and one with the merlion in the background. hahah we kept stopping to take photos :P
ben with the bikes at geylang lorong 9
frog porridge! ever wondered why frog porridge is called tian ji zhou and not qing wa zhou in chinese?
evidence that youtiao is very tough.
and seriously bear, this photo is NOT mysterious, more like just pure silly :P
makes me laugh over and over again
and as always..xiaolongbaos are love! yumm.
waiting up and headcounting at the traffic junction
on the way back from geylang we stopped by a sandbox playground, one of the rare ones left in singapore i believe! :)
and this was where daniel found a frog.
zoom in and you'll notice how the frog looks very terrified behind held so close to ben's mouth.
sometimes it gets hard to think of our class guys as 21..
being good dentists to be..we engaged in very uh..exciting morpho based activities too!
