the driving test
alright read only if you're in need of a dramatic story to entertain you.
the morning of the driving test.
for the first time in my whole driving history, during the warm up round, i struck a pole down during parallel parking. kling-klong-klong. not a good sign at all. but yes better to strike down a pole now then during the test itself. just like how its better to drill a cavity wrongly on oscar than on a real patient.
while waiting for the tester to come
i needed to use the toilet and so i did. and of all times for the tester to come, he decided to come while i was IN the toilet. when i got back the other girl taking the test told me my tester came. oh no. then the tester came back and said "test route 6, meet me in the car when you're done". but i swear i didnt hear the latter part and so i sat down there and waited. 10 minutes later the tester came back up. FUMING MAD and screaming "why you make me wait so long in the car?!!!" double oh no.
seriously, the last thing you want to do before even stepping into the test car is getting into your tester's bad books. unknowingly some more. aiyoh.
in the circuit
the tester was still fuming mad and holding his PDA and pen waiting to click on any slight mistake i made. and he did. 2 pts for failure to use appropriate gear (?!! in the circuit) and 2 pts for delay in moving off because the junction was super crowded and i couldnt turn out left.
and all this time my left leg was uncontrollably shaking like crazy..and i kept thinking of sympathetic nervous system's "fight or flight". definitely flight in this case.
then came vertical parking whereby everything seemed fine until the car was in the lot, and the tester happily got down, walked over to my side, opened the door and went "hurhur you grazed the kerb!" with this super smug grin on his face.
on the roads
before getting onto the roads even i had this nasty feeling that i had already gotten more than 20 pts because the tester kept clicking away at his pda screen.
still. vroom.
then in the middle of some hdb estate, this huge truck decided stop in the middle of the road right infront of me. zzzz. ended up squeezing by it's left and praying that the clearance would be sufficient concurrently. and the tester smirked away.
thankfully the lane changing zones were all clear.
back to the circuit
the tester decided to carry out a self improvised part of the test..i.e an interview.
"eh how long have you been driving?"
"6 months.."
"take lessons every week or very long never drive then last minute before test come and drive?"
"nooo..i took lessons quite regularly"
"why you always brake so hard? didnt you learn intermitten braking?"
"yes..im trying.."
.
.
.
"your driving ok but your braking very bad and your parking strike kerb"
"ook..."
basically it wasnt a good feeling at all.
the tester then brought me up to the review room where i sat in a corner and waited for him to print the results.
there i was praying again "Lord let me experience your grace and mercies please. i think i am going to fail this but i know if i pass it is entirely by your grace alone"
then the tester came back with the scoresheet and it had this super long column of errors committed. and he went through all of them, one by one until the last part.
"but i let you pass lah. next time parking be more careful!"
i remember last night i was praying that God's glory may be reflected in this test, and at the back of my mind, wondering how that's going to come true to reflect Him, but i guess it did on it's own.
this is God's grace and favour.
im very, very thankful :]
big thanks goes out to denz and yk too, for all the tips last night on how to lane change, not mount kerb and start the car properly. and to all those who msged all the best, thankyouverymuch too :)
now comes the new issue.
NO CAR.
hahaha. and parking without poles.
but that's for tomorrow to worry about :)
HOORAY for today!
